Horatius was a Roman warrior who went down alone to save
Rome. He faught
off the entire
Etruscan army on a bridge and then went down with the bridge to
stop the oncoming invasion.
The stories after his fall differ. Some say that he swam to safety
even though he
was in full armor. Others say he died for his country. Either way his strength
and allegiance
became an example for all Romans to follow.
