The easiest way to select an individual paragraph for formatting is to double click in the left margin of that paragraph. (Make sure that the mouse pointer is pointing to the right before you double click. The mouse normally points to the left.)

Among the other alternatives are the following:

  • Use the mouse to paint the paragraph by holding the mouse key while moving the pointer over the paragraph.
  • Move the cursor to the beginning of the paragraph and press {Ctrl-Shift-Down Arrow} on the keyboard.
  • Move the cursor to the end of the paragraph and press {Ctrl-Shift-Up Arrow} on the keyboard.
  • Move the cursor to the beginning of the paragraph and press the {Shift} key while you click the mouse at the end of the paragraph.
  • Move the cursor to the end of the paragraph and press the {Shift} key while you click the mouse at the beginning of the paragraph.
