Beautification of City

Although mainly known for his military achievements, Nebuchanezzar also made gigantic strides in decorating his own city.  He transformed his city from shambles to an elegant world capital.

 His most famous architectual achievement are the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.

This structure, which is one of the seven world wonders, was said to be built for his mountain-born wife who was homesick,, and was used as a cloister.

He also fortified the walls around his city, making it nearly impossible for an invasion to occur.

Another magnificent achievment was  the Gate of Ishtar, which only one of the eight gates that were constructed in the city, but is by far the most famous.  This gate was made to worship the goddess Ishtar.
